Legal & Immigration:
Centro assists low and moderate income households with legal issues such as citizenship, crises and eviction cases, victims of domestic violence, assault and battery cases, and makes referrals Pro Bono legal services, attorneys and volunteer interpreters and translation services.Immigration and Legal Caseworker assists clients in completion of applications for various needs such as work permits, citizenship requests, and Visas. The immigration counselor also advises them as to the process within the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) as well as within the different local, state, and federal court systems. Centro caseworker does referral to local Colleges for taking citizenship programs. Centro has an attorney, usually pro bono, to help our clients in case when necessary. The Legal Caseworker advocates for clients in person, by letter, or by telephone and is available for translations and/or interpreting when necessary. She/He also attends monthly meetings at the INS for community-based organizations at which the latest INS regulations are presented and discussed.
Centro assists its clients in understanding and applying for workman's compensation and unemployment services, assists in resolving problems with employers, and provide necessary in person and/or over the telephone translations/interpretation when is required
